Adult Mission Trip to The Domincan Republic

Every couple of years a group of adults travels to the Dominican Republic.  The trip could focus on anything from medical needs to construction to Bible School.

High School Mission Trip to Cosby, Tennessee - 2010

In June, 21 high school youth and adults spent a week at Sunset Gap Community Center in Cosby, TN.  Each day we traveled to Del Rio, a small, country town where we worked on the home of an elderly couple who were recently in a near-tragic car accident.  They were hit by an uninsured motorist and after months of rehab, came home to a house that was in need of some major TLC.  We replaced the roof and gables, built a new back porch, caulked, painted and removed a chimney.  We also had the opportunity to get to know a sweet couple who welcomed us every morning with a smile and graciously thanked us every afternoon as we packed up.

Our Neighbor's House (109 South Second Street)

In early 2008, God planted a seed in the heart of a church member that Easley Presbyterian Church needed to be doing something for families in Pickens County who were homeless.  In October of that same year a committee was formed, and together they began praying and dreaming and brainstorming.  The seed that God planted and the prayers and dreams of the committee turned into the project we call Our Neighbor's House.

Many people have spent nights and weekends working to repair and rebuild Our Neighbor's House, which is located on the church property.  The house is now a home for a family in transition out of homelessness, would otherwise not have one.

Local Mission Opportunities are endless. Whether you have an hour to give or a day or two every week, there are opportunities to use your gifts to serve others.  We have children, youth and adults who volunteer at Meals on Wheels, S.H.I.N.E. Soup Kitchen, Mary's Closet, American Red Cross, United Christian Ministries, the Free Medical Clinic, and more.
