Wednesday NightsWednesday evenings are designed to offer youth the opportunity to engage in deeper discipleship through study of Scripture and/or Theology in a focused and intentional setting. This is a time of reflection and prayer, as well as looking at a range of topics including Christian Life, Bible Study, and contemporary issues facing youth today. The format for these meetings is a 45-minute discussion- based lesson following dinner.Sunday NightsIt is our intention to divide the Sunday evenings of each month, as best we can and as scheduling allows, into meetings incorporating fun/recreation, some form of worship, service events, and educational or awareness events. We believe these four elements incorporate what it means to be the body of Christ, and our goal is to emulate that as best we can within the workings of our group in order to teach the youth what it means to be part of a congregation. One day these youth will be elders and deacons, and we hope they will continue to incorporate what they did and learned in youth group into their roles as church leaders and officers. Youth Sunday SchoolOur purpose is to provide a comfortable place for young people 6th through 12th grades to grow in their faith during these formative years. Our goal is to help youth as they explore Scripture and their faith so they can apply it to their lives and become faithful disciples. This is accomplished through basic Bible study and application of faith to life. Beginning in 5th grade, our youth work through a four-year plan that includes a survey of the Old Testament, the New Testament, a confirmation curriculum in 7th grade and a review of the Bible in the 8th grade. To complement our Youth Sunday School programs we also offer more intensive Bible studies and fellowship activities throughout the week.Trips, Retreats, and ConferencesWe offer a balance of fun/recreation, worship, service, and education/awareness in our range of excursions throughout the year as well. Skiing offers a chance for fellowship while enjoying God’s creation in the chilly outdoors, Presbytery retreats and the Montreat Youth Conference offer a combination of Christian Education, awareness, worship, and recreation with youth from around the state and throughout the Country, and our Mission Trips provide youth with both awareness of the vast need throughout our local area, the nation, and the world while offering an opportunity for service, fellowship, and worship with the people of wherever we may be going.
