Pie Baking Contest and Decorated Cake Contest

 
Adults, youth and children are encouraged to enter this fun competition of old-time, home baked goodness.  Judging of entries begins promptly at 5:15 p.m.  All pies and cakes should be registered and placed on the table by 5:00.  Include a copy of the recipe with each entry.
 

 

Baking Categories:
 
·         Family Heirloom
Bake a favorite family heirloom recipe (pie and/or cake) and share the story of
the loved ones who passed it down through the generations. 
·         Completely Homemade
Bake a pie and/or cake completely from scratch. (icing, cake batter, pie crust, etc...)
·         Baker’s Choice
You decide what your best pie or cake is and bake it!  Tell us why it rates number one on your pie chart!
 
Pie Only Categories
·         Fruit Pie
Apples, pumpkin, strawberry, just to name a few.  Any fruit will do!
·         Nut Pie
Sometimes you just feel like a nut – in a crust!
 
Cake Decoration Only Categories
·         Best Use of Decorations
·         Best Church History Themed Cake
·         Most Extravagant
 
Judging:
 
Each pie will be judged on the following criteria:
- Overall appearance (20%)
- Crust color, flavor, texture and doneness (30%)
- Filling consistency, doneness, flavor (30%)
- Originality (10%)
-Judges Discretion (10%)
 
Each cake will be judged on the following criteria:
- Overall appearance (20%)
- Cake color, flavor, texture and consistency (30%)
- Icing flavor, color and taste (30%)
- Originality (10%)
-Judges Discretion (10%)
 
Judges will award a winner of each category for Adults, and Youth, and Children.
Judges will not know participants names.

 
 

After the competition, you may add your entry to the dessert table for dinner!
