125th Anniversary

Celebrating 125 Years of Faith

“The Commission of South Carolina Presbytery, appointed to organize a church at Easley, met on Sabbath, the 9th of May 1886, and was constituted with prayer. . . . The Easley Presbyterian Church was chosen as its name. Commission adjourned with prayer.”  A short article appearing in the May 13, 1886 issue of The Pickens Sentinal publicly announced the beginning of our church. With seventeen founding members, Easley Presbyterian Church formed to serve the Lord in our community. And now – 125 years later – we are celebrating our blessings!

In Isaiah, chapter 42, God calls us: “I am the Lord, I have called you . . . I have taken you by the hand and kept you . . .I have given you as a light to the nations.” From its beginnings, as our church family grew, a spirit of generosity was formed, and through the untiring efforts of its members our church has been erected as an act of faith on the part of many to the glory of God and the service of Jesus Christ.  Today, four church buildings, twenty-two ministers, many hundreds of members, baptisms, weddings, funerals, countless acts of mission and service, and an ever-deepening growth in faith and our Lord, our congregation is strong and dedicated to the same Christian church and Presbyterian heritage. Over the next several months we will learn more about our past, celebrate our present and give attention to our future hopes as Easley Presbyterian Church in Easley, South Carolina. Your part in our celebration is: Be involved! Join in! Participate! In the words of Henry B. McKoy, “One cannot comprehend the present except by a study of the past. One can not prepare himself for the future, unless he understands the present through the past. There has been in past both bad and good. Take them both. Avoid one and emulate the other.”

We hope you will join us as we celebrate 125 years of Faith, on Saturday November 5 and Sunday, November 6. Click here for more information about the celebration.
